During the holidays I love to spice things up with a specialty cocktail. Since I had an abundance of sage in my garden and it is a warm herb that most of us use during this time of year I thought it would be a perfect compliment to a pomegranate drink.
Recipe to make one cocktail
2 oz gin
1 oz lemon juice
1 oz pomegranate juice
1 oz sage simple syrup*
Pomegranate seeds to garnish.
Additional lemon juice and sugar for the sugared rim
If desired, dip the chilled cocktail glass in lemon juice and then in sugar for a sugared rim.
Pour all ingredients except for pomegranate seeds into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake the cocktail shaker for a couple minutes and pour into a martini or glass, no ice needed.
*The simple syrup is 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup water and a handful of sage leaves. Boil until sugar is dissolved. Remove sage leaves and cool liquid before using.
Happy Bartending!
